Kena: Bridge of Spirits is an astonishing action-adventure with a unique art direction. This is a small adventure with enough challenge and heart to keep you entertained for the full 10–15 hours that it'll take for you to reach its conclusion. Gameplay-wise it doesn't do anything particularly new or innovative but that doesn't stop it from being loads of fun. With absolutely stunning visuals and impactful music this is sure to leave an impression on people. It's pretty amazing to think that Kena: Bridge of Spirits is Ember Lab's very first game. Even if the story ends a bit in the background, the beauty of the world, the animations and the combat system make the adventure of Kena and his friends Rot's truly memorable. Kena: Bridge of Spirits is an excellent debut. Kena: Bridge of Spirits offers a unique adventure that's fun to explore and exciting to play. It's one of those rare games that feels like it belongs to the new generation thanks to its magnificent world, and its developers knew exactly how ambitious to be while still providing a top rate experience. Overall, Kena: Bridge of Spirits is absolutely brilliant. If you love Zelda-like games or are just looking for an experience that will make you smile every step of the way, you can’t go wrong with Kena: Bridge of Spirits. Kena: Bridge of Spirits is as gorgeous and elegantly crafted as a big budget game, making it a statement debut for Ember Lab.īridge of Spirits stumbles a little in spots, yet confidently sprints into the heart of the adventure, rewarding the player with secrets galore and visuals that are almost always worth admiring. With the game’s added photo mode, expect to add on a few more gameplay hours as you fill up your gallery with lots of cute Rot pictures, too. I really can’t recommend Kena: Bridge of Spirits highly enough that will see players partake in a meaningful journey absorbed in a vibrant world filled with fluid animations that cries out to be explored. Kena: Bridge of Spirits truly is something special, and I can’t wait to see what Ember Lab does next. It also tells a fantastic story, and there’s plenty to do even when the credits have rolled. It’s challenging, fun to play, and has a world teeming with life. Even more remarkable is that Kena isn’t simply a visual showcase, either. Very few games are as pleasing to the eyes, and coming from an indie studio – making its very first game, of all things – that’s something quite remarkable. Kena is smooth as a pebble - a game engineered to be so unoffensive there's no reason not to play it, or to play it at all.Įvery single moment of Kena: Bridge of Spirits is simply wonderful. I think that this is a really superb, beautifully-made game that is-if it clicks with you, I think it's really gonna stay with you, and I was really glad that I got the chance to play it. It's not gonna break any new ground I don't think this is a 10/10 experience, but I absolutely believe this will be on more than a few people's game of the year lists. I will treasure my time with Kena: Bridge of Spirits and look forward to even bigger projects from Ember Lab to come. That's more than fine with me, especially because it doesn't waste players' time by dragging any longer than it needs to (though you can pad the runtime an extra hour or two by hunting for its most buried shinies). Ultimately, this week's Sony console exclusive (also on PC) is an homage to Zelda's classic core, with a few clever twists and a compelling story built on top, as opposed to a revolutionary physics-bending adventure a la Breath of the Wild. The battle was pretty good, but the exploration, moving around, and some of the different story beats and that music hit it off. You're dealing with this cute, out-of-this-world kind of creatures. It's a fantasy forest revival of the Overlord games in a a weird way, except here you aren't dealing with cranky-ass goblins that are seven days unwashed. It's a breath of fresh air.įorty bucks?
